Alpine Escape — Chambéry

Cycling has that unique power to make us discover a territory in a different way. For the duration of a ride, kilometers replace the constraints of daily life, landscapes become the backdrop for a shared adventure, and encounters naturally take over.

On July 12, MILES Cycling Club left the Île-de-France region for the first time to ride in the heart of the Alps. Heading for Chambéry, with a simple objective: to share a ride accessible to all, discover the Savoyard roads, and keep the MILES spirit alive far from its usual playground.

Departure Place des Éléphants

At 9:30 AM, fifteen cyclists met at Place des Éléphants. Some were club regulars, while others were discovering MILES for the first time. A few members from Paris were enjoying their holidays in the region, while others had traveled from Annecy specifically to participate in this day. Very quickly, introductions gave way to the first pedal strokes.

As with every MILES outing, the pace was intentionally social. No one rides to break a record; everyone rides to share a moment. Smiles, discussions, and laughter quickly set the tone for the day. Local cyclists, who already knew each other, naturally integrated the newcomers, creating a warm atmosphere where everyone easily found their place.

One of the most memorable moments of the day will undoubtedly be the stretches along Lake Bourget. Whether at the start or on the way back to Chambéry, the deep blue of the lake, surrounded by the surrounding hills, offered an exceptional setting. A setting that naturally invites you to slow down, look up and fully enjoy the moment.

More than a ride

Halfway through the ride, MILES set up a refueling station to offer participants a real break before hitting the road again. Thanks to Powerbar's support, energy gels, bars, and drinks were available to the group. This moment quickly went beyond a simple refreshment stop: everyone took the time to chat, discover the products, and share their impressions of the ride. This thoughtful gesture was particularly appreciated by the participants, contributing to making every MILES ride a complete experience.

As the miles passed, conversations continued to change with each new group of riders. We talked about gear, upcoming challenges, bike trips, or simply the routes everyone loves. That's also what the MILES Cycling Club is about: creating encounters between enthusiasts who, sometimes, would never have met without cycling.

The road goes on

When the group returned to Chambéry, the smiles on everyone's faces confirmed what they already felt. This first alpine edition had lived up to all its promises: spectacular landscapes, a friendly atmosphere, and a community united by the same passion.

This first getaway to Savoie marks an important milestone for MILES Cycling Club. It reaffirms our desire to foster our community beyond Paris and to explore new territories, new roads, and meet new cyclists.
